A letter from our dear friend and frequent quest, John Hogue.

Hi Mitch,

Actually I was watching the Northern Lights over Seattle last night between 12 midnight and 2 AM. Unbelievable!! I've never seen them so strong before, and definitely moving south of 48 degrees latitude because they were pulsing waves of ionization over my head and south to Tacoma.

The best moment was when they made an arch stretching across the entire northern part of the sky. It looked like the ghostly tendrils of baleen. Or like Casper the Friendly Ghost's picket fence in the sky. At one point a ray of light stretched across the east and turned from blue green to scarlet!

Wow, what a scene!.
