One of the big worries about climate change has been the retreat of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, a massive layer of ice that could cause a coastal catastrophe if it were to collapse. Now scientists say the ice sheet’s retreat appears to be part of a 7,600-year-old trend that has little to do with human-caused global warming.
