Between
November 23,
2000 at 10:20 and November 25, 2000 at 11:18 6(six)
coronal mass ejections and 3(three) X-class flares occurred. Each
still image below from SOHO shows the approximate eruption time
of the CME. An S-2 Solar Radiation Storm is currently hitting
the earth. The Solar wind could effect the Earth in two or three
days causing geomagnetic disturbances.

Solar Radiation Storm Effects
Biological:
none
Satellite
operations:
infrequent
single-event upsets possible
Other
systems:
small
effects on HF propagation through the polar regions and navigation
at polar cap locations possibly affected.
NASA
warns that solar disruptions like those of 1989 may soon return
as the sun approaches another ''solar maximum". Every 11 years
the sun undergoes a period of activity called the "solar maximum",
followed by a period of quiet called the "solar minimum". During
the solar maximum there are many sunspots, solar flares, and coronal
mass ejections, all of which can affect communications and weather
here on Earth.
