Iran Earthquake Injures 28...11/01/99

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - An earthquake in Iran's southern Fars province injured at least 28 people, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported Monday. It said the 4.9 magnitude quake, which struck early Sunday, knocked out power lines and caused a blackout in the city of Kazeroun and surrounding villages for several hours. The area is 450 miles south of Tehran, the capital. Several homes and other buildings were damaged, said the report, monitored in Dubai. Mahmoud Rasafiyani, Kazeroun's governor, said four of the 28 wounded were hospitalized but the rest sustained minor injuries, IRNA reported.
