NASA Trashes Metaphysics...03/31/00
by Mitch Battros  (ECTV)

I received an email today asking me to go to a NASA site they call "Classroom". This alone was enough ruffle my feathers. It reeks of  hierarchy imperialism. We are just stupid school kids that NASA needs to educate. When I arrived to this site, I found something even more insulting. Dr. Tony Phillips who is the spokesman for NASA outright trashes those of us who have alternative ideas.

Teacher Phillips, uses cute words to ridicule, demean, belittle and subordinate. Here are just a few of the words he used..." Doomsday Desserts, Catastrophic Cloze , The Art of Making Predictions (or "Oh Rubbish!") "

Although I do agree with his premise that 5/5/2000 will be a wash, I would never insult others because of a differing opinion. I hold fast to my affirmation "we are all just kind of guessing". I have my truth, but I will not impose on your truth.

Here is the email exchange between Tony Phillips and myself:

Dear Sirs,
What an insult! How dare you make a mockery of those who have given significance to some prophecy's.

With what I have seen in the news about all of your screw ups, that a 5th grade science student could have figured out, you should be the last to make light of others.

It appears your "Public Relations" people just don't get it. You will NEVER gain the respect from those who pay your bills by attacking or making light of them. It appears you are unable or unwilling to progress forward in your antiquated "good ole boy" cooperate structure. You know, the one where "suds runs down hill".

It is when you are able to climb down from your hierarchy palace and discontinue your policy of "exclusion" rather than "inclusion", that you will get the recognition you so desire.

Best Wishes, MB

Mr. Phillips reply:

Hi -- I'm not pursuing a PR policy.  I think that the planetary alignment sensationalists are doing a great disservice, and I won't decline to say so just to make such folks like me.

My reply:

Dr. Phillips,
What you "are" saying is that you have "the" answers. What you have is an "opinion" based on documentation. What you seem to exclude is the "subjectivity" of your studies.

Since "you" are not pursuing a PR policy, maybe those who are would be interested in your stance to challenge. Maybe you do not have the demeanor to be a teacher or certainly not a spokesperson for NASA.

I realize I may a bit sensitive to this issue do to the daily interaction I have to endure with the mainstream ways, but if you are motivated to let NASA know how you feel about their attitude and "Public Relations" policy, here is a good place to start.
