LOS ANGELES – Powerful winds blasted through the Southland for the second consecutive day Tuesday, toppling trees, blowing out windows and knocking out power lines as gusts exceeding 50 mph raked parts of the region.

In Pasadena, about a dozen trees were knocked over in various areas of the city overnight, said Pasadena police Sgt. Thomas Delgado. One of those trees crashed onto a new Isuzu Trooper that was parked outside owner Sara Entner’s residence.

“I just bought the car...” Entner told reporters. No power lines were damaged by the tree, and no one was hurt, but a phone line and a cable TV line were damaged.

Southern California Edison spokesperson Steve Hansen said that about 1,000 customers were without electricity at 8:30 a.m., mostly in the Covina and Whittier areas. A few customers were without power in the Antelope Valley, he said.
