ATHENS (Reuters) - Greece warned the public and tourists Wednesday
to take precautions as temperatures soared to 42 degrees centigrade, nearly
108 Fahrenheit.
Emergency medical and firefighting services went on alert, and air-conditioned state buildings and sports stadiums were kept open for people seeking temporary relief.
The Environment Ministry warned people to restrict their movements as much as possible. Cooler weather is expected by the end of the week.
