(AP) CINCINNATI — Heat that topped the 90-degree mark for a seventh consecutive day was a factor in five deaths Sunday, bringing the weekend death toll to seven, the coroner’s office said.

Four Chicago deaths also have been blamed on the heat since Thursday. The five Cincinnati area people who died Sunday were overcome in their homes, a spokesman said. No identities or further details were available.  Advertisement

A total of seven deaths were linked to the heat over the weekend in Hamilton County. Anna Stacey, 75, and Pamela Current, 34, both of Cincinnati, died of heat stroke in their homes on Saturday, said Dr. Carl Parrott Jr., Hamilton County coroner.
Ms. Stacey’s home had a room air conditioner, but it was apparently not being used. The group home in which Ms. Current lived was not air-conditioned, he said.
