West Papua Rocked by Earthquake

A strong earthquake has rocked the Indonesian province of West Papua, also known as Irian Jaya...but so far there have been no reports of casualties or damage.

The country's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency says the quake registerd five-point-eight on the Richter scale and was centred about 100 kilometres west of Manokwari.

Earlier, a magnitude-5.2 earthquake shook parts of Sumatra island in western Indonesia.
