TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- A snowstorm that swept parts of western Iran has killed three people, newspapers reported Sunday.
Three people who were on their way back to their village near the town of Baradust in northwestern Iran on Saturday died after getting caught in the storm. A fourth person with them survived with minor injuries, the Hamshahri daily reported.
Other newspapers reported that several other people were injured due to accidents related to snowstorms.
Heavy snowfall in many Middle Eastern countries in the past few days has blocked roads and caused power cuts. Even parts of northern Saudi Arabia, near the border with Jordan, experienced a rare snowfall Friday.
The blizzards followed three years of drought that battered Jordan, Israel and other countries in the region.
