Grim Aftermath Of Georgia Tornadoes...02/15/00

CAMILLA, Ga. (AP) - Residents set to work Tuesday to remove the debris and wreckage littering the landscape after Georgia's deadliest attack of tornadoes in more than 50 years. "It's a good bit of damage to clean up," said Thomas Sewell, one of hundreds of volunteers from around Georgia helping with the cleanup. "Getting trees off houses, getting yards cleaned up - we'll see what we can do." The tornadoes that struck southwestern Georgia early Monday killed at least 22 people and injured more than 100, the state's worst toll from twisters since 1936. The oldest victim was 85, the youngest 8 months. Many likely were killed as they slept, police said.
