Tornadoes Reported In Arkansas...02/14/00

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Strong winds tore through central Arkansas Sunday night, destroying at least six homes and injuring two people. The National Weather Service issued tornado watches and warnings for the area but had not confirmed that the damage was caused by tornadoes, senior forecaster John McLeod said. Lonoke County Sheriff's dispatcher Dana Burris said Lonoke residents reported seeing a tornado near the city about 6 p.m. She said the storm destroyed six homes, knocked down trees and power lines and damaged farm shops and equipment. McLeod said two injuries were reported in the area, about 20 miles east of Little Rock. Twenty miles further east, near Hazen, strong winds knocked down trees and power lines and damaged a few houses and businesses, said Prairie County Sheriff's dispatcher Shannon Muse.
