Floods Kill Four in Cameroon, Leave Many Homeless

YAOUNDE (Reuters) - Floods have killed four people in northern Cameroon, the governor of the Extreme-Nord province said in a newspaper interview published on Tuesday. Floods earlier this week had left many people homeless and caused a bridge to collapse, governor Yene Ossomba told the official daily Cameroon Tribune. "In the town of Maroua, material damage is important and around a quarter of the town is or has been under water," Ossomba said. Transport was blocked in many parts of the region. Heavy rain caused chaos in the main commercial town of Douala earlier this month, killing at least three people.
