When I first
heard of the Russian sailors trapped 350 feet below the Barents
Sea, something profound came over me. Only minutes after hearing
of this tragedy I felt a sudden stillness and intense feeling
of powerlessness and grieving. Within this same hour, I felt as
if I was in direct communication with the sailors who were sitting,
some standing still, quiet, solemn. It was as if I could look
into their eyes. Most were filled with what I would describe as
peaceful, serene, accepting. Others were more frighten, unsure,
bewildered. What this had reminded me of was the two visions (and

Folks, this
is hard to explain. I have never been in a submarine or naval
ship or anything related to this event, but for some reason it
feels familiar. Is it some association I had experienced in my
past related with powerlessness or feeling hopeless? Can one come
to a place of acceptance and peace through such a trauma? Are
these feelings similar to a near death experience I had when I
was hit by a car at age five? Is it possible those who are at
the moment of death can reach out to others in some sort of spiritual
wave of connectedness? What ever the reason, I can tell you I
feel some telepathic connection with those trapped. I have held
them close to my heart ever since. I must tell you, I really feel
they can feel this. Perhaps it is my way of bringing some comfort
to those who are so traumatized, frightened, alone. It is as if
I want them to know they are not alone, and whatever our differences
I love them all...deeply. I am tearful at the moment and I do
not know where these strong emotions are coming from.
As most of
you know, I am trained to deal with such tragedy in both my private
profession as a mental health therapist, and in my more public
life as a trainer for the Emergency Management Office for disasters.
But for some reason this feels very different. Again, I have no
idea why, other than to say it is as if I know them or at least
know of what they face. It may simply be that I have tapped into
what we will all feel at some moment when each one of us will
too, be confronted with something totally outside of ourselves.
Something we will have no control over. Perhaps this is why all
the ancient text tells us of this time. That our way out is through
compassion, community, togetherness. Maybe it is a training of
sorts for those times when we too will feel alone, disconnected,
uncertain.
Change is
here and it is good. I know without a doubt many will be frightened.
There are those of us who can adjust more easily. Perhaps our
job is to help those who will hold on too tight, unforgiving,
attached to what was rather than what is or will be. My interview
with John Mini author of "Day of Destiny" the aztec
calendar, reminded me once again what we see today has been announced
thousands of years ago by many disciplines. In John's book, he
describes what the symbol in the middle of the Aztec calendar
which shows the Sun with its tongue hanging out. This means just

"the Sun will speak to us" in the beginging times of
the what I call "Transition". Well as we all know, the
Sun sure has been speaking to us in the way or "record breaking"
solar activity. You will find these very events have been told
to us by the Myans, Aztecs, Sumarians, Tibetans, Egyptians, Hopi's
and even the bible.
At this time,
I will return to my thoughts and meditation for those who may
or may not be alive, trapped alone. I believe our energy and thoughts
can pierce through any metal and go to any depth. I send love,
compassion, connectedness to my brothers who may not remember
"we are one".
