WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Clinton made the state of Maine eligible for federal relief aid Friday as a result of severe storms that began March 28.

His action makes federal funding available to affected local governments in the counties of Androscoggin, Aroostook, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford and Somerset.

Those areas have been hit by storms, flooding and ice jams.
