FRANKFURT, Germany (Reuters) - A 57-year-old Nigerian man has died of the highly infectious tropical disease Lassa Fever in the west German city of Wiesbaden, health authorities in the state of Hesse said Tuesday.
A spokeswoman from the state health authority said the unnamed victim was admitted to a clinic for tests on March 27 but doctors only discovered he had Lassa Fever after his death Saturday.
Health officials were now monitoring everyone who had come into contact with the dead man, but the spokeswoman said it was most unlikely that he had passed the disease on to anyone else.
